Connect Philips Hue

Pair your Hue Bridge, assign lights and carefully restore an existing connection.

Check the requirements

This connection in Core v0.37.0 supports one Hue Bridge using the Hue V2 API. Only an administrator can pair the Bridge. Open your real Core interface; the sample home does not connect to your lighting.

Make sure the Bridge and Core are reachable on the same local network. First use the Hue app to check that the Bridge and lights work. Have the Bridge’s local IPv4 address ready; find it in the Bridge settings in the Hue app. If Core reports that Philips Hue is not yet installed, first open One-Links in Core management.

Find and check the correct Bridge

Automatic discovery uses local mDNS. The network must allow these discovery messages through.

  1. Open One-Links > Philips Hue > Pair Bridge.
  2. Choose Search my network, or enter the Bridge’s local IPv4 address.
  3. Choose Check Bridge.
  4. Compare the displayed Bridge name, address and identity with the Bridge you intend to use.
If discovery returns nothing, try the known IPv4 address. Separate VLANs or Docker network isolation can block discovery. Entering an address manually helps only if Core can actually reach the Bridge at that address.

Confirm the physical Bridge

The physical button confirms that you have access to the Bridge being paired. Check the displayed Bridge first.

  1. Press the round button on top of that Hue Bridge.
  2. Then choose Button pressed · Pair in One-Home.
  3. Wait for the result before performing another action.
  4. If the check has expired, reopen the pairing window and repeat the check and physical confirmation.
One-Home does not automatically send repeated pairing commands. If an error occurs, do not keep pressing the interface button; read the message and check the selected Bridge first.

Give every light a place

After pairing, the lights appear under Your Hue lights. The Hue room name helps with recognition, but check the One-Home room for each light.

  1. Choose the intended Room for the first light.
  2. If the room is missing, use Add room to create it first.
  3. Choose Save for that light and repeat for the remaining lights.
  4. Choose Control to open the light. Use Edit device to give it a recognisable name.
No lights found even though the Bridge is connected? First add the lights to the Bridge using the Hue app, then choose Refresh lights or Check connection.

Test the supported lighting functions

A non-dimmable device receives only on/off controls. Dimmable lights show brightness. Suitable lights offer White temperature with Warm, Neutral and Cool within their own limits. A white preset lets you return from coloured light to white.

Colour lights offer a colour picker and six presets. Core limits colours to the light’s colour gamut, so the screen colour may not exactly match what the light can produce.

  1. First test on/off and brightness on one visible light.
  2. Then test only the white temperature or colour functions offered.
  3. Wait for confirmation and compare with the real light.
  4. Open the same light on a second signed-in screen and check its name, room and state.

Restore a previously paired Bridge

Use Check connection to retrieve lights and current states again. If access has been revoked or the Bridge key has changed, the app requests pairing again with the physical button. Older connections may need this confirmation once.

Choose Pair Bridge again and follow the same checks. Existing light names, room assignments and device IDs are retained for the same Bridge. If its IP address has changed, pair that same Bridge at its new address. A different Bridge does not silently replace the existing connection.

If Core reports a problem with its encryption key, have the administrator restore the original key first. Creating a new key does not restore existing encrypted pairing data.

Check reachability and resident permissions

An unreachable light remains visible but cannot be controlled. Its status follows the Zigbee connection reported by the Bridge. Check power and the Hue app, restore the connection and retrieve the lights again. Commands are not saved for later.

Residents may view and control only permitted rooms; view permission alone is insufficient for switching. After setup, test with the intended resident account too. If problems persist, record the Bridge address, light name, Core version and error message without sharing secret keys.
