Always check the data source

The Energy page in the interactive demo uses one consistent example dataset. The energy flow, battery, charts and device breakdown do not describe readings from your home. The Example data label therefore remains essential, even after entering your own rates. A personal rate does not change the source of the consumption figures.

In the connected new interface of Core v0.37.0, Energy points to Core management. View real data there to the extent provided by your energy integration and meters. Having a connected device does not necessarily mean its individual energy use is measured. Ask the administrator which source and measurement period are available.

Read power and energy separately

kW describes power at a particular moment; kWh describes a quantity of energy over a period. A device using a constant 1 kW for one hour consumes 1 kWh. Do not directly compare an instantaneous value in the energy flow with a daily total in the history.

Consumption is what the home uses. Solar generation is what the panels produce. Grid import is electricity taken from the grid; Grid export is electricity sent back. Solar electricity can be used directly in the home without appearing as grid import. The demo battery card is a separate example status; historical costs exclude battery cycles.

Compare equal periods

  1. Open History & insights and choose Day, Week or Month. The example month contains thirty days.
  2. Choose the measure you want to inspect, such as Consumption or Grid import.
  3. Use the period arrows to inspect an earlier example period.
  4. Enable Compare with previous period and compare the total, the difference in kWh and the percentage.
  5. Open View readings to inspect the underlying intervals in a table.
If the previous value is zero, a meaningful percentage change cannot be calculated. Use the absolute difference in kWh instead.

Use rates for a calculation example

Open Costs & export credit and enter both amounts in euros per kWh. For example, enter 0.30 for thirty cents, not 30. Zero and negative rates are accepted within the displayed input limits. Save and check that both amounts appear correctly.

The estimated balance is import costs minus export credit. Standing charges, net metering, export fees and dynamic hourly rates are outside this model. It therefore does not predict your electricity bill. When comparing periods, both periods are calculated using the same entered rates. The rates remain in this browser on this device.

Understand consumers and solar suggestions

Largest consumers divides the example consumption across devices. Open an entry to see its quantity and comparison with the previous period. This breakdown is not automatic recognition of real appliances. The remaining portion may not be assigned to an individual reading.

Under Make more of your solar, choose an offered task. The calculation compares time windows using surplus solar from the example day and evenly distributed task consumption. It contains no weather forecast and schedules no device start. A potential cost benefit also considers forgone export credit; it is not a guaranteed saving.

Investigate unexpected figures

For an unexpected number, first check the source, selected period, measure and unit. Then inspect the table and entered rates. An empty cost calculation often needs two valid rates; check the error message beside the input.

For real Core data, check whether the meter is reachable and the readings are current. A missing reading is not the same as zero consumption. Record the source, period and time when asking the administrator. Do not invent missing values to make a chart balance.
